This World University Championship Cycling was a four in one competition: Time-Trial, BTT xCO, Downhill and Road Race.

Four long days with temperatures rising very high (43º), four different venues, lots of dust, thousand of photos to process and a final day on back seat of a motorbike doing curves at 80km/h while shooting at a speed of 1/30s to get this effect:

It was challenging, it was demanding, it was dangerous (almost crashed while doing the photo above), it was the most physical competition I ever shoot... but it was really fun and I would do it again without any hesitation!

Another challenge of the competition was the process to get the following set of photos:

4 different perspectives, 3 remote synchronized cameras, 1 handheld camera!

In the week before of the 2018 WUC Cycling, when you go to the track and start visualizing the jump, you are not expecting that on the day of the race you would get a big red ambulance and some mattresses on the composition... but that's life, safety regulations and the deeds of being new to the sport.

The fact the cameras were all different models, with different frame rates and buffers, was a challenge and caused some difficulty. I had the Canon 5D Mk4 in my hands and the Canon's 1Dx, 1D Mk4 and the 7D as remotes, all connected by trigger radios.

After two jumps I had to disconnect the PocketWizard trigger radio from the 5D and shoot the remotes independently from the camera... my hands were literally full!

In the end, it was demanding, it took some planning, lots of water to sustain the severe temperature (I've burn my fingers when I grabbed one the remotes) but the final result made it worthy!

Now it's time to charge batteries cause in September we have the Modern Pentathlon World Championship in México and in October, the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires!
