Well, this post was supposed to be about the importance of remote cameras in sports photography, but after 2 seconds looking in to these two photos I just thought to myself: "Fuck it"!

Let's talk about what really matters, let's talk about the guy with a big smile and a Olympic record in the bag! His name is Amro Elgeziry and he is a focking legend in his own right!

Pentathlete, Doctor, Husband, Soldier (and the list can go on), Amro is the kind of guy that always has a smile on his face and a kind word to give away.

The year was 2015 and I’ve just finished shooting my first assignment for UIPM - World Pentathlon (The Rome World Cup). My media manager back then, Roque Teixeira, told me that we still needed to shoot a group of athletes in the Coliseum.

Amro was part of that elite group select for the photo shoot and straight from the start he was cooperative, friendly and ready to follow my lead and suggestions. Remember, we are talking about a guy who already had been to two Olympics and was also a silver medallist at the World Championships.

Two month’s later, in Berlin, while shooting my second event for UIPM, The World Championships, our path’s crossed again. During the women’s qualification, he saw me, approached and with a big smile, said hi and asked how are things going. Yeap, he his that kind of guy!

Six years and two Olympics later, here we are again, both competing (you) and shooting (me) at the highest level, but now with a small difference: friendship!

It was a honour to photograph you but it’s certainly a privileged to call you friend!
